Eastern Washington University's College of Education and Human Development is pleased to announce an opening for a dynamic and visionary Chair for the Department of Education. The Chair will be expected to lead the department to meet the need of a growingly diverse PK-12 population in our state through the preparation of culturally competent teachers. The Chair is a Department of Education faculty member working in a shared governance climate. The initial term as chair is four years and is subject to nomination for appointment renewal. Faculty rank and salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications and in compliance with University policy and the faculty collective bargaining agreement. The process for hiring with tenure must follow the hiring-in procedures as designated in the collective bargaining agreement, the college and department plans.
The Eastern Washington University Department of Education administers one of the largest NCATE-approved teacher education programs in the state of Washington and has been recognized numerous times, both regionally and nationally, for its outstanding work. Faculty members bring to the graduate and undergraduate programs depth of knowledge and experience in teaching, research, and service. The program is designed to prepare candidates to become professional educators, able to bring together subject matter and instructional strategies, to utilize technology, nurture reflective thinking, and to be sensitive to ever increasing socio-cultural issues involving the learner.
Federal regulations (34 CRF Part 668) require that all prospective employees be notified regarding the availability of the Campus Safety and Security report. This report contains comprehensive information and statistics on campus crime and safety for the three most recent calendar years, as well as policies and procedures for reporting crimes, policies concerning the security of and access to campus facilities, policies concerning campus law enforcement, and campus safety and crime prevention programs.
